A video of a sloth being carried across a road to safety has gone viral, with viewers
saying it is ‘too pure for this world’.
The footage, captured by Adriane Gonçalves Serrão of Caieiras,
Brazil, shows the moment a man swooped down to
pick up a sloth that was attempting to cross a road and take it to a nearby tree.
At the end of the clip, which was shared on Twitter, the
sloth turns around and seems to thank the man by gently touching
his hand with his three-fingered-paw.
Animal lovers swooned over the ‘beautiful’ interaction and said
it was the ‘best thing they had seen’.
However an expert warned the sloth was not thanking
the rescuer, but was protecting itself from a perceived threat.

People lauded the ‘beautiful’ interaction and said sloths are ‘too pure for this world’ after the
video went viral
The Good Samaritan stopped traffic and parked his car in the middle of the road to rescue the animal, which was slowly making its way
across.
An adult sloth can reach speeds of up to
0.27 km/h. In comparison, humans walk at an average pace of 5km per hour.

The man gently picked the animal up using a
towel, prying his paws off the road.
Once he had crossed the road, he gently held the animal up
to a tree trunk for it to latch onto, and patted its back reassuringly.
The man carefully grabbed the sloth with a white towel before taking it to safety, pictured
After it got a lift, the animal turned around to look
at the man, left, and then extended its arm to him, right.
Viewers thought it looked like a ‘thank you’ – but
actually it’s a sign of protection
After it found the best branch to stick to, the animal turned
around and extended its arm to the man, in a gesture many
took to be a show of gratitude.
However Dr Rebecca Cliffe, founder and executive
director of the Sloth Conservation Foundation, explained the sloth was trying to protect itself.
She said: ‘Lots of people think that when sloths
put their arms out like this that they are
waving or saying hello, or even asking for a hug.
Of course, this isn’t true at all.
‘Sloths are a prey species with no effective way to defend themselves
against predators.
‘When scared and feeling threatened, they will often put their arms out like
this to make themselves appear larger. It is essentially a stress response that a
lot of people misinterpret.’
People swooned over the sweet interaction as some said it was the most beautiful thank you they had
ever seen
However few viewers interpreted the signal correctly and took to Twitter to gush over the moment.
One posted: ‘Just one of the most beautiful thankyou’s I have ever seen! Thank you for
sharing this remarkable clip! Beautiful beyond words.’
‘Actual tears,’ said one, while another wrote:
‘They are too pure for this world.’
‘I’ll be watching this video the rest of the day if anyone
needs me,’ another said.
‘Thanks – what a lovely way to start the day, a wondrous creature and an act of kindness,’ said another.

A mother-of-seven has revealed how she’s in better shape now than she was in her
early twenties before she had most of her children.
Jessica Enslow, 43, from Utah, gave birth to her first child in 1994 when she was just 19-years-old.
She soon fell pregnant again, welcoming her second child in 1996 when she
was 21, and went on to expand her family another five times over the following 19 years with two
different husbands, giving birth to her youngest child in 2013.

Better than ever: Mom-of-seven, Jessica Enslow, 43, from
Utah, gave birth to her first child in 1994 (left) but the fitness fan looks better now than she did in her twenties (right)
Transformation: She gave birth to her youngest child in 2013
and unhappy with her figure, decided to embark on a total body transformation in February 2017
New outlook: Using a mixture of weight training and cardio, Jessica has
transformed her physique (pictured left in 1996 after the birth of her second child, and
right, in 2017
Her four eldest children are from her first marriage and her
last three are from her second.
But despite giving birth to – and then raising – seven kids,
Jessica has proudly revealed that she is actually is better shape than she ever was
before she had kids, and boasts incredibly youthful
looks that mean she could pass for the same age as her eldest children, who are in their
early twenties.
Whenever the mom shares images of herself posing with her eldest daughter Alyssa, 22, her Instagram followers – of which there are many – are quick to comment on the fact that they look more like ‘sisters’ than a
mother and her daughter.
Indeed, Jessica’s incredibly trim physique and seemingly ageless appearance has
earned her a legion of online fans, many of
whom regularly question the proud mother about how she manages to
stay in such great shape while looking after such a big family.
Revealing that she quickly gained weight during her first pregnancy, Jessica admitted
that she also didn’t realize she wouldn’t bounce back
to her pre-pregnancy size immediately after
giving birth.
‘I literally got home from the hospital and immediately put
on my pre-pregnancy jeans only to find they wouldn’t go any farther than mid-thigh,’ she shared.
‘This is when extreme fear and a little depression set in.’
Speaking about how she slimmed down and transformed her physique,
Jessica explained that having a husband and older children who
support her was crucial to her success.
And as a busy mom, she had to find ways of incorporating working out into her daily routine.

Like mother like daughter: Jessica, pictured with her eldest daughter
Alyssa, 22, says she uses intuitive eating to keep her weight in check
Honest: She rarely eats cheat meals, explaining that her metabolism can’t handle a burger, fries and shake once or
twice a week, and prefers smaller treats instead
Unhappy: After the birth of her last baby, Jessica, pictured here in 2015, says she was eating lots
of Nutella and doing the odd workout
Before she embarked on her fitness overhaul in 2017, Jessica said
she used to eat Nutella every day and do random workouts she found on Pinterest.
‘I used to eat Nutella by the spoonful, and on my toast and on my bananas,’ she explained.
‘That’s when things started getting REALLY out of hand with my body composition and finally prompted me to change
my daily habits.’
She now goes to the gym three times a week while her children are in school,
and also gets up early every Monday morning to do cardio.
‘I also know if there’s a will there’s a way,’ she wrote on Instagram.
‘It’s been an adjustment for us, but it’s working really
well for now. I always say, “You do what you can!”
Be strict about your goals & flexible on how
to achieve them!’
Jessica added: ‘There are plenty of moms out there who have made tons
of progress from their own homes. Make modifications, if necessary,
but we can all improve our health if we really want to!’
When it comes to diet, Jessica eats ‘intuitively’, and
stopped tracking her macros.
She has trained herself to stop eating when she’s satisfied, not completely full, by being more mindful during mealtimes.
The dedicated mother also ensures she’s eating lots
of protein at each meal and her go-to carbs include oatmeal, fruit and
whole grain bread.
Balanced: Jessica’s fans often question whether she
and Alyssa are sisters when they pose for pictures together
Hot mama: Despite having seven children, Jessica also shared that she’s escaped lots of
stretch marks and hasn’t had a tummy tuck
No excuses: Jessica, pictured here with eldest daughter Alyssa, now
works out in the gym three times a week while her kids are in school and does her cardio on Monday mornings
She also keeps snacking to a minimum, and while she admits that she might
‘grab a bite or two of my kids white toast, fries or cereal, or have a few chocolate chips to satisfy
my cravings’, she prefers to snack on jerky or protein chips if
she really needs something between meals.
And while some people swear by cheat meals to keep them
motivated during the week, Jessica revealed that she tries to avoid them, as her metabolism ‘just can’t handle a burger, fries,
milkshake, and dessert once or twice a week, unless
I up my cardio and workout more!’
She’s also a fan of supplements, saying she feels more productive when she takes Warrior Fuel Hers
Pink Burst, even on the days she’s not working out.
Taking to Instagram, she explained: ‘I have noticed a
big difference with appetite control, fat loss, energy
and focus compared to last year when I decreased my workout time
and lost tons of progress.’
And despite her huge weight loss she has escaped lots of
stretch marks and loose skin, however empathizes that
the ‘huge majority’ of mothers ‘wouldn’t trade their children for a flawless body.
We all kinda know that’s part of the deal.’
She also shared that losing the baby weight between each pregnancy was
a priority and that overall, consistency was her greatest weapon.
‘Just stay consistent and if you fall off the wagon, just brush it off and
get back at it as soon as you are able!’ she said.

New NatWest systems fault meant hundreds
of thousands of Apple iPhone and iPad users were unable to use
banking app

Another IT glitch at NatWest meant that hundreds
of thousands of customers could not access their banking app via
Apple iPhone and iPad devices this morning.
NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland customers took to Twitter
to express their irritation – the lender has more than 1million users of the app,
though a spokesman has now confirmed – as of midday – the
problem has been fixed.
John A tweeted to the @NatWest_Help feed: ‘I’ve been trying to get onto app all day now with no joy??
(iTunes app)’.

Sorry: NatWest apologised on Twitter to users who are still struggling to access the app – customers are meant to be able
to send money to anyone with a Visa card via its app
‘Really?!?! #natwest really really loosing my patience!!
Can’t check my balance now!!’ wrote customer Emma Pudsey.
Sam Coleman tweeted: ‘Natwest helpful banking????
Really!!!! Then why can’t I log on #natwest #angry.’
The bank apologised to users saying: ‘The Android app is working now, and
we’re working on the others urgently.’
A spokesman told This is Money: ‘All our mobile banking applications are now running normally.
We apologise again for the inconvenience
caused to our customers.’

Chaos at cash machines: Computer fault halts RBS withdrawals…while boss picks up £700k bonus
Smartphone app means NatWest and RBS customers can now text cash to friends and family
– without bank details
A Which? spokesperson commented: ‘Consumers and businesses alike rely on mobile banking services
to access their accounts and consumers will rightly want to be
assured that their money is accessible and safe at all times.
‘The problems caused by the RBS mobile banking glitch will raise wider
questions about how robust and up to date banks’ IT systems are.’
This latest IT problem followed weeks after the banking
group apologised to customers for its second computer hitch in a year.
A hardware fault left RBS Group customers blocked from using cashpoints for several hours in early March,
while online and telephone banking services were also disrupted.
RBS Group said previously that the computer fault, which
affected RBS, NatWest and Ulster Bank customers, was unrelated to a
huge IT meltdown it had last summer which left customers unable to
use their accounts properly and cost the group £175million to put right.
Last October, NatWest also had to suspend a feature on its mobile phone app called GetCash, after the service was subject to a spate of ‘phishing’ attacks by fraudsters.
NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland customers are able to
send money to other people via their mobile phones after the lender launched a new mobile cash transfer service earlier this month, using the smartphone
app.
It means that as well as checking their own details and
transferring cash between their own accounts, they can use their
phones or tablets to make a payment of up
to £100 to anyone with a Visa card by entering a mobile number.
It is available for customers to download as an upgrade to the existing mobile
banking app for Android, iPhone and BlackBerry, with an enhanced version of the
Windows phone app due to be released soon.
