AHS UI menyelenggarakan kegiatan bertajuk “Workshop Perumusan Program AHS UI Untuk Renstra 2020-2024” pada hari Rabu, 5 Februari 2020, bertempat di Ruang Rapat Gedung Alt. 2, Rumpun Ilmu Kesehatan UI Depok.
Acara ini dihadiri oleh perwakilan dari seluruh Fakultas yang tergabung dalam Rumpun Ilmu Kesehatan UI yaitu Fakultas Kedokteran, Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi, Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat, Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan, dan Fakultas Farmasi, serta perwakilan dari Rumah Sakit Pendidikan jejaring yang tergabung dalam AHS UI. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kegiatan dan program AHS UI selanjutnya yang akan tercantum pada Rencana Strategis (Renstra) periode 2020 – 2024. Workshop dibuka dengan sambutan dan overview mengenai AHS UI 2019 oleh Dekan FKUI yang sekaligus merupakan Koordinator AHS UI (Prof. Dr. dr. Ari Fahrial Syam, SpPD-KGEH, MMB). Prof. Dr. dr. Budi Iman Santoso, SpOG (K),MPH selaku Wakil Koordinator AHS UI kemudian memberi paparan mengenai Program AHS UI 2020 untuk Persiapan Renstra AHS UI 2020 – 2024. Selanjutnya, dr. Anis Karuniawati, PhD, SpMK(K) selaku Wakil Dekan Bidang Sumber Daya, Ventura, dan Administrasi Umum memberikan presentasi mengenai pengembangan SDM AHS UI. Workshop dilanjutkan dengan presentasi singkat mengenai prioritas program oleh perwakilan dari masing-masing fakultas dan rumah sakit. Sesi selanjutnya adalah diskusi dan tanya jawab dimana para peserta workshop memberikan feedback terkait rencana program yang telah disampaikan dan juga klarifikasi mengenai proses pengembangan SDM AHS UI.
Acara ditutup oleh Prof. Budi dengan merangkum hasil diskusi yang telah dilakukan, serta menetapkan bahwa workshop selanjutnya akan dilakukan pada bulan April tahun 2020 di RIK UI, Depok untuk menyepakati program pada Renstra AHS UI 2020-2024.
Melihat luaran yang dapat dicapai melalui program-program yang akan dimasukan dalam Renstra 2020-2024, AHS UI dapat memberi dampak positif tidak hanya bagi anggota yang terlibat di dalamnya, namun juga bagi masyarakat luas.
Pada akhirnya, diharapkan bahwa AHS UI dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan, memberikan pelayanan kesehatan yang maksimal, serta memperoleh manfaat dari hasil penelitian di bidang kesehatan.

A time lapse video has revealed the moment
Manhattan was plunged into darkness as Hurricane Sandy barrelled through New
York on Monday night.
Captured from the Northside Piers Towers in Williamsburg,
Brooklyn, the video condenses two days of the superstorm’s massive strike on the nation’s biggest city into just two minutes.
The south-pointing camera begins filming in the early hours
of Monday morning and captures the neon-dotted Lower Manhattan as it awakes – and
as howling winds begin to rattle through.

When the day begins, grey clouds wash over the city and leave the camera flecked with raindrops.
As night draws in, the city becomes illuminated once more, as apartment blocks, high rises and
the Williamsburg Bridge turn on their lights for the evening.
Yet just moments later, around 8.40pm on Monday, the lights suddenly
snap off. The city that never sleeps becomes cloaked in darkness, with only faint car lights seen flickering around the city’s perimeter.

The time lapse video ends yet the darkness has not, as tens
of thousands of New Yorkers now face a third night without power.
The usually-bustling streets of Soho, the Financial District, the
East and West villages have remained eerily empty and quiet since
the power went off, turning the popular night spots into ghost towns.
Some of the outages were sparked by an explosion at
a Consolidated Edison plant on 14th Street after it became overwhelmed by floodwater, while others were due to water damage in homes and businesses.
The sky above the city begins to get gloomier as the 1,800km wide
storm gets closer and closer
Rain begins to appear on the camera lens as conditions begin to worsen midway through the video
New York can be seen taking a battering from the wind and rain
The company had also pre-emptively taken two underground electrical networks out of service, which have
been the first to be restored.
On Thursday, ConEd assured that power would be
returned on either Friday or Saturday to the remaining 227,
000 homes and businesses that went dark in Manhattan on Monday.
Throughout the week, the company has only been able to restore power to 2,000 people
in lower Manhattan, just a sliver of those affected.
And the discomfort of no power will continue for homes in Brooklyn,
Queens and Staten Island, where ConEd does not expect to complete repairs for another week.
The time lapse video also shows the stark divide between power outages across Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. Around
59,000 homes were left in the dark in Brooklyn, yet homes in Williamsburg, which can be seen in the footage,
were largely unaffected, despite being just across the bridge.
The video, created by SMvideoChan, was uploaded to YouTube,
where it has already viewed more than 1.2 million times.

An extension of cash bonuses to keep defence personnel in the military will help provide certainty for Australia’s armed services,
the veterans’ affairs minister says.
The federal government will expand a program providing $50,000 in bonus payments to military personnel to stay in the Australian Defence
Force for a further three years after their initial period
of mandatory service.
The bonuses were rolled out as part of a trial in 2023, but will be
expanded as part of a $600 million workforce strategy under the 2024 Defence Workforce Plan.
The plan found the scheme had been a success, with an uptake rate of almost 80
per cent since its introduction, resulting in more than 3100 junior rank personnel choosing to stay.
“We’ve now got retention rates increasing and the separation rates back down to nine per cent, which is the long-term historical average,” Veterans’ Affairs Minister Matt Keogh told ABC
Radio on Tuesday.
“We’re also expanding (the payments) so that people who are in the defence force who have served around seven to nine years will be able to sign on for an additional three years also, and they’ll be they’ll be able to get a continuation bonus.”
The bonuses will be extended until 2027/28, but the amount will be reduced
to $40,000 from July 2025.
Mr Keogh said more still needed to be done to boost retention and recruitment rates for the military.
“There is a whole range of other measures that we have been applying to improve the terms of service for people in our defence force, from health care to study opportunities to improving housing flexibility,” he said.
Defence Minister Richard Marles said the expansion of the bonuses would target those who had
been in the military for several years.
“(Retention) is a challenge. We are very much confident that we can meet these targets and that’s because we have properly funded them and we have a plan to get there which is about really improving the terms of service,” he
told ABC TV.
“(The new bonuses are) really targeting those who are in their seventh, eighth, ninth years of service, which gets to the middle ranks where we’ve got an issue.
“We’re also working to grow the active reserves so there are more opportunities for people in the
reserves to do full time or part-time work in the defence force.”
Defence will aim to achieve “realistic growth” of a permanent ADF workforce of 69,000 by the early 2030s, with an overall workforce – including public servants – of about 100,000 by 2040.
The plan says the goal is achievable and will be updated every two years as part of the national defence strategy cycle.
To “stabilise, remediate and grow” the ADF, the number of people signing up must increase from 5500 each year to 9000 over the coming decade.
The median length of service for permanent personnel must also jump from about seven years to 12.
Under the plan, Australia’s operational reserves would grow by an extra 1000 people by the end of the decade, which would play “an essential role in supporting the ADF’s readiness”.
“Defence will direct many of these additional operational reservists towards improving the readiness of the navy, air
force, and Joint Capabilities Group,” it said.
The federal budget handed down in May showed the forecast workforce at 58,600 personnel by June 30, 2025, against a requirement of more than 63,000.
