Salah satu upaya untuk mencegah penyebaran Covid-19 adalah perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS), yaitu dengan rajin mencuci tangan menggunakan sabun dan air meng-alir. Mencuci tangan diyakini dapat mencegah masuknya virus dan bakteri lain ke dalam tubuh kita.
Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia (FKUI) dan Fakultas Teknik Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) berkolaborasi mengem-bangkan alat pencuci tangan portable yang dinama-kan “Moveable Hand Washer (MHW)”.
Keberadaan alat ini diharapkan dapat mencegah dan meng-hentikan rantai penularan Covid-19 di masyarakat. Hadirnya alat ini juga dapat menjadi salah satu solusi alternatif apabila terjadi kelangkaan bahan hand-sanitizer. Selain itu sudah diketahui bersama bahwa mencuci tangan dengan sabun dan air mengalir lebih baik dibandingkan dengan menggu-nakan hand-sanitizer.
Sebanyak 44 MHW siap untuk didistribusikan ke berbagai tempat umum seperti rumah sakit, pasar, terminal, stasiun, dan tempat lainnya yang berada di wilayah Jabodetabek.
